About the charge entry role
Charge entry looks simple and isn't. A wrong rendering provider, a missing modifier, the wrong place-of-service code for a telehealth visit, a date of service off by a day — each one becomes a rejection or a denial. As a charge entry specialist you are the last check before a claim is built, and the fastest way to raise a practice's clean claim rate.
This is a good entry point into revenue cycle work. Six months of medical billing or data entry experience is enough to apply, and you will learn alongside our coders and billers.
What you will do
- Enter charges from encounters, superbills and EHR charge queues
- Check provider, location, place of service, date of service and referring provider
- Match diagnosis pointers to procedures and apply modifiers as documented
- Hold charges with missing information and resolve them with the practice
- Meet daily charge lag targets so revenue isn't delayed
- Reconcile charges entered against the appointment schedule
What you need
- Six months or more of charge entry, medical billing or medical data entry
- Basic knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM and common modifiers
- Fast, accurate keyboarding and a careful eye
- Willingness to ask when something on the encounter doesn't add up
Working remotely at CredSpun
This is a fully remote, work-from-home role open to applicants living in the United States. You work during U.S. business hours alongside a named account team, inside each client practice's own EHR and practice management system, with every login tied to you personally. You need a quiet, private workspace, a reliable broadband connection and a computer that can run a current browser and a second monitor. HIPAA training is part of onboarding, and you sign our confidentiality terms before you are given access to any patient data.
