Why posting is a revenue step
Net collection rate measures what you collected against what your contracts entitle you to — not what you charged. The target is 96% or higher. The gap is usually underpayments: a line paid below the contracted rate and posted as if it were correct.
Bulk posting hides that gap. Line-level posting finds it.
What posting includes
- ERA posting and manual posting of paper remittance
- Each line compared against your contracted fee schedule
- Underpayments flagged and pursued with the payer
- Patient responsibility moved to statements promptly
- Deposits reconciled to posted payments
Feeding denials and reporting
Every denial found during posting goes straight to the denial team with its reason code, and every underpayment shows up in monthly reporting by payer — so you can see which contracts are being honoured and which are not.
ERA, EOB and deposit reconciliation
Electronic remittance advice (ERA, the 835 file) posts fastest and most accurately, which is why we set up ERA enrollment with every payer that offers it. Paper EOBs are posted by hand with the same line-level checks. Each deposit is then matched to the payments posted against it, so a payment that was sent but never posted — or posted but never deposited — is caught the same month.
