About the patient account representative role
Patients see the bill, not the claim history behind it. When a balance looks wrong, they call the practice — and the practice would rather they talked to someone who can actually fix it. As a patient account representative you answer those calls and messages on the practice's behalf, explain what happened, and resolve the balance or the insurance problem behind it.
What you will do
- Answer patient billing calls, voicemails and portal messages promptly
- Explain statements, EOBs, deductibles, copays and coinsurance in plain language
- Update insurance information and resubmit claims when coverage was wrong
- Take payments and set up payment plans according to practice policy
- Review and send patient statements on schedule
- Resolve credit balances and process refunds with approval
- Escalate complaints and disputes to the account lead with full notes
What you need
- One or more years in patient billing, patient accounts or healthcare customer service
- A calm, clear, friendly phone manner
- Understanding of how insurance determines patient responsibility
- Strict care with patient privacy and identity verification
Working remotely at CredSpun
This is a fully remote, work-from-home role open to applicants living in the United States. You work during U.S. business hours alongside a named account team, inside each client practice's own EHR and practice management system, with every login tied to you personally. You need a quiet, private workspace, a reliable broadband connection and a computer that can run a current browser and a second monitor. HIPAA training is part of onboarding, and you sign our confidentiality terms before you are given access to any patient data.
